Comments about this product:
I have reenacted for 25 years and it is so disappointing to see History channel(????) make historical shows that are inaccurate or not researched enough to come anywhere close to how or what a Civil War era soldier shoulh look or act like.
I was VERY suprised to see a special with the effects and over all dedication to accurcy in the show. The action was very well done. There were no fat soldiers running around yelling "ye Haw" The best seen to date for a mainstream documentary.

Comments about this product:
I understand that it is hard to cover a three day battle w/a 90 minute video, but...to do a Gettysburg DVD w/o mention of Chamberlin and Little roundtop is an odd choice. The title should be "Stories from Gettysburg" as this video clearly does not try and tell the entire story of the battle.

Comments about this product:
I get so tired of history documentaries that focus only on kings, presidents and generals, so I was awed and delighted by "Gettysburg". It gave me chills as it zoomed in on individual soldiers--everyday people who left their homes and families only to be torn apart, both physically and emotionally--and made me feel as if I were on the battlefield right next to them. My heart raced with the men as they charged into battle and my body shook with the cannoneers' as the vibration of the firings tore them apart. The exhaustive research that went into the making of this film must have taken years. I can only hope that everyone sees this and becomes acutely aware, as I did, of the horror and heartbreak of war. If they can, then perhaps we will think twice before entering into it again.

Comments about this product:
Movies and documentaries like these fail to mention what went on in my part of Pennsylvania. Erie County in Pa. is one of the most historic places in American History and we never even get mentioned. Ever. Our Great State doesn't either.

You've really got to redo your video clip! Sound and vidio were so messed up I didn' know what I was seeing or hearing.
I did give you a good word on Facebook. I really enjoyed the program. But one of your commenters was right. RETURN TO YOUR ROOTS and get back to actual HISTORY.

Comments about this product:
Gettysburg was a battle that many people disregard, but this video does a great job highlighting the importance of the battle. They approached Gettysburg with a very specific eye. They focused not on Lee, Meade or Chamberlin but on relatively unknown soldiers. I won't mention them here but their stories are compelling and tragic. What also made this film great is the realism portrayed. For the first time I felt that I was looking at an actual portrayal of the battle. My comment might sound weird when I say that the film didn't take place at the real Gettysburg, but they made it work. Overall Gettysburg was a great film, but don't look for a real in-depth look at the battle. The light is very specific and focuses on the views of various soldiers. The only exception was Pickett's charge which the film did well.
