Great Science Video for High School Age

I use the first 20 minutes of this video for my high school chemistry class to show them how elements are formed from the stars and how fusion occurs in the sun. I think it is great for this purpose and do not for one minute think that this is "kindergarten level". It is certainly appropriate for high school students. For biology students it has some great information on evolution as well, later in the video.

*Horribly dubbed, commenters did not match up with their interviews so their lips moved when they weren't speaking and didn't move when they were...
*Horribly narrated - great voice but very little real information...everything seemed like a statement leading to information that never materialized...
*Lots of fluff but no real details, connections that made no sense and were never explored or explained such as "the stars are in our bodies and bridges"...
*Graphics were low-level and seemed to be used as a distraction for the lack of information given...
*"Experts" were questionable and without any real knowledge and often from low level sources (like a worker from the La Brea Tar Pits)...
*Entire video was 87 min - this is even noted on the case...where is my other 33 mins?? It's the history of the world in 2 hours...not and hour and 27 mins.

Overall I'm sorry I wasted the money on it, since I opened it I can't return it...if you're presenting it to a grade school class as an educational rainy day video maybe it would fly. But, any junior or high school student or adult home viewer with higher than a 5th grade education would find this ridiculous and a waste of time...how it got 4.8 stars is beyond me. Normally the History channel is right on...this time they dropped the ball.

For education and to develop a topic for my Talks on Radiation around the world. However, it is fast paced and without subtitles or commentary on the video it can be very confusing.

              • Tie together subjects
              • To see "the big picture"

I have taken many courses when I went to college, and this show put so many things together for me, and recommend it for all high-school and college students, as I think it would help them get so much more out of their science, biology, history, social sciences and geography classes, and they could see "the big picture", and connections between all these disciplines, that, on the surface, seem disjointed and unrelated.

Thank you so much for putting together such an outstanding and amazing program!

As a professor of economics, I will use this in all of my classes. This is a master class in physics, astronomy, chemistry, geology, anthropology, agriculture, economics and history. I have never seen a better representation of these disciplines in one place. Watch it, buy it, tell others. Nice job History Channel.
